Within the past few years, our community has lost so many bright lives due to mental illness, and we believe it is time to do more than start a conversation after every tragedy: we need to create large scale awareness in the community and eradicate the stigma surrounding mental health.

The purpose of our one day seminar is three-fold:
Build awareness  about the importance of mental health and well-being and talk about it with experts in a safe environment.
To promote awareness about services, resources and tools available to family members.
Advocate for increased availability and accessibility of culturally and linguistically sensitive support
The seminar will be attended by experts from the Canadian Mental Health Association, who will be on-hand to facilitate and answer any questions. Our journey will continue on this important topic through the DTA social media pages and our call to action to help obtain the services the Tamil community needs. 

Tamil Canadian Centre for Civic Action is leading the charge on this important topic under the leadership of Former City of Toronto Councillor Neethan Shan and we are proud to say that DTA is  part of this larger movement involving over 50 Tamil organizations and stakeholders around GTA.

Together, let's normalize the difficult conversations surrounding this topic, and pave a NEW BEGINNING and talk about mental health. Let's start a conversation!
