About Durham Tamil Association.
Durham Tamil Association is a non-profit, organization. It was formed in 2000 with the fundamental goal of providing an opportunity for Durham Tamil youths and adults to unite and participate in activities that enhance Tamil culture. DTA’s vision is to enable our youth to be pioneers in any profession they choose and be a role model in caring for elders and assist the needy in our community and our homeland.
Our association has successfully organized several cultural, community and sports events in the past years. We are proud to assist and participate in fund raising activities such as the walkathon for the local Hospital, Durham Regional Police Food and Toy Drive, Charitable events organized by Multicultural Durham Newspaper. Our members are actively involved in Race Relations Committees, Rotary Clubs, Board of Trades, United Way and Seniors Centers and Spelling Bee of Canada.
Our members’ children have received coveted awards in Education and Sports activities throughout the region. This year we will be awarding some of our most successful youth and elders for their contribution to the community and to their outstanding achievements. We are looking forward to your participation and cooperation in our upcoming programs and events. We would very much like to contribute our services to any volunteer and community activities that take place in the Durham region.
